Accessibility certification
The "South Tyrol for All" information platform is the official tourism portal for accessible tourism for all in the province of Bolzano. The project was launched in 2004 in collaboration with the ESF and is run on behalf of IDM South Tyrol. The website is developed and managed by the social cooperative independent L., based in Merano.

“South Tyrol for All” has an extensive database (>800 venues along the entire customer journey) containing verified information and numerous photos that describe each offering in detail. In addition, topic-specific printed publications are also produced, such as the specialist hiking guide and the South Tyrol cultural guide.
To provide this information on accessibility, descriptions and ratings, site visits tailored to specific target groups are carried out throughout South Tyrol. A corresponding photographic record is also compiled. In addition to a general text description of each facility or service and a detailed accessibility description (covering the facility’s accessibility, navigability and usability), a brief summary description is also prepared for each entry, which can be viewed as a preview on Suedtirol.info and in other applications.
Only accommodation providers that receive an accessibility rating of at least 3 smiley faces from ‘South Tyrol for All’ are listed on www.suedtirol.info in the ‘Accessible Accommodation’ section.
The aim of this specialist information portal on South Tyrol is to provide reliable and objective descriptions of the accessibility of facilities in accordance with the IG-VAE methodology (Informazione Garantita per la Valutazione dell'Accessibilità per le proprie Esigenze - Guaranteed Information for the Assessment of Accessibility for Individual Needs), in order to provide guests with disabilities, as well as specialist service providers and tour operators, with detailed descriptions so that they themselves can assess the accessibility/usability of a facility in relation to their individual needs.

How do we assess this?
As part of the assessment, the establishments are evaluated and awarded up to 5 smileys depending on their level of accessibility. The exact criteria (hotel.bz.it/en/evaluation_criteria and Evaluation-criteria.pdf) are, of course, set out on the website in a way that is completely transparent to the end user.
Similar requirements also apply to hiking trails: following an on-site inspection, the level of accessibility is assessed by a team of experts, taking into account the nature of the trail, the gradients and the surface of the terrain. The assessment of the accessibility of hiking trails is also subjective, as the needs of families with pushchairs, older people and visitors with disabilities vary greatly. We therefore recommend that wheelchair users choose walks rated with 5 or 4 smileys.

How can I be added to the list?
Accessibility is, of course, a prerequisite.
