Evaluation criteria for routes

Routes are classified using smileys:
5 smileys indicate an easy route, 1 smiley indicates a difficult route. The assessment takes into account several aspects, including the condition of the surface, paving, and gradients.

We recommend that wheelchair users choose only routes marked with 5 or 4 smileys.

Easy route with a flat profile and uniform surface.
Easy route with short sections of slight incline and a consistent surface.
Route with some moderate inclines and, in places, an uneven surface.
Rather strenuous route with steep inclines and an uneven surface.
Strenuous route with steep inclines and an uneven surface with stones and/or grass.

The assessment of route accessibility is subjective, because the needs of families with strollers, older people, and people with disabilities can be very different.
