Information notice pursuant to Article 13 of the Personal Data Protection Code

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by users send to and store on their computers or mobile devices. These files are then sent back to the same websites during subsequent visits. Cookies enable websites to remember users' actions and preferences (such as login details, language settings, font sizes, and other display preferences), so that they do not have to be entered again whenever users return to the website or navigate from one page to another.

Cookies are used for purposes such as user authentication, session monitoring, and storing information relating to activities carried out by users on a website. They may also contain a unique identifier that allows a user's navigation within the site to be tracked for statistical or advertising purposes.

While browsing a website, users may also receive cookies from websites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called third-party cookies). Some website functions cannot be performed without the use of cookies, which in certain cases are technically necessary for the operation of the website itself.

Depending on their characteristics and functions, cookies may remain on a user's computer or mobile device for different periods of time:

  • Session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a predetermined expiry date.

Under current Italian legislation, the use of cookies does not always require the user's explicit consent. In particular, consent is not required for technical cookies, namely those used solely to transmit communications over an electronic communications network or strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user. In other words, these are cookies that are indispensable for the operation of the website or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.

Among the technical cookies that do not require prior consent, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see the General Provision "Identification of simplified procedures for information notices and consent acquisition regarding the use of cookies" - 8 May 2014) includes:

  • Analytics cookies, when used directly by the website operator to collect aggregated information on the number of users and how they visit the website.
  • Navigation or session cookies (for authentication, purchases, etc.).
  • Functionality cookies, which allow users to browse according to selected criteria (such as language or selected products) in order to improve the service provided.

Conversely, profiling cookies, which are designed to create user profiles and to deliver advertising messages aligned with preferences expressed during web browsing, require the user's prior consent.

Which types of cookies do we use?

This website does not use profiling cookies.

In particular, this website uses:

  • Technical cookies, including navigation and session cookies, which are strictly necessary for the operation of the website and for allowing users to access requested content and services.
  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use the website. These cookies do not collect information that identifies users, nor any personal data. The information is processed in aggregated and anonymous form.
  • Third-party cookies, which originate from websites or web servers other than this website and are used for purposes determined by those third parties.

When visiting a website, users may receive cookies both from the site they are visiting (first-party cookies) and from websites operated by other organisations (third-party cookies).

A common example is the presence of social plugins, such as those provided by Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. These are components generated directly by those services and integrated into the host website. Their most common purpose is to enable content sharing through social networks.

The presence of these plugins may result in the transmission of cookies to and from third-party websites. The processing of information collected by such third parties is governed by their respective privacy policies. For greater transparency and convenience, the relevant privacy policy and cookie management links are listed below:

Google Analytics cookies

Among analytics cookies, particular attention should be paid to Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc.

Google Analytics enables website operators to analyse website activity, including:

  • Number of visitors
  • Navigation patterns
  • Services used
  • Average time spent on the website
  • Other statistical information useful for improving content and usability

IP anonymisation is enabled on this website.

Google will use this information on behalf of the website operator to evaluate website usage, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website and internet use.
