This panoramic trail is located in the well-known Mühlental valley (Val di Morins in Ladin), in the hamlet of Campill (Longiarü) near St. Martin in Thurn. In the past, the farmers here in the valley depended on agriculture and needed the water mills to grind their grain. Along the trail, we also come across well-maintained farmsteads and farming tools for haymaking, whilst in the background the Dolomite peaks complete the natural landscape.

Accessibility

Campill is easily accessible from the Brixen motorway exit, travelling through the Puster Valley towards Bruneck. Just before Bruneck, follow the signs for Gadertal (Val Badia) until you reach the exit for St. Martin in Thurn, from where it is about 5 km to the mountain village of Longiarü.

Description

The starting point for this short panoramic walk is the Mühlental car park in St. Martin in Thurn (gravel surface), where we park the car. There are also a few additional parking spaces beyond the car park on the left-hand side of the road. On the tarmac farm track (no pavement), the route climbs gently past a chapel on the right and continues at a leisurely pace to the Tlisöra Speckstube (steep access ramp, accessible toilet). Customers are allowed to park in front of the restaurant, thereby avoiding the steep ramp with an 18% gradient. After the Speckstube, the route continues slightly downhill to a right-hand bend, where the first historic mill is located; it is occasionally open to the public (accessible via steps). On the tarmac farm track, we continue uphill at a constant gradient of 9%, past the Lüch de Van Hof (restaurant without accessible toilet). After a right-hand bend, the path becomes slightly steeper at 15%,  before continuing with a more moderate gradient of 9% to a junction, where we keep to the left and turn onto a bumpy dirt track. The route continues slightly downhill and then on level ground to a barrier, which can be negotiated with a little assistance. Immediately after the barrier, we turn left towards an idyllic  viewpoint with seating. This is reached via an unpaved track with a 12% gradient downhill and is difficult for wheelchair users to manage even with assistance, which is why we recommend that wheelchair users stop at the junction to enjoy the view and then return along the same route.
Along the route is also the Vila de Seres Museum, which explains agricultural tools and processes. The museum is accessible via a steep forest track and is housed in a farm building which, due to high door thresholds and other obstacles, is not suitable for visitors in wheelchairs.
