A walk to the Unteregger farm
This leisurely walk starts at the Schenken car park and follows hiking trail no. 5A past the picturesque Learnweiher pond. The path mostly runs alongside meadows, with only a short stretch through the woods, and offers stunning views of the mountain landscape. The tarmac path is well signposted and there are plenty of places to sit, either in the sun or in the shade of the tall trees. After a final steep section, you reach the Unteregger inn with its petting zoo, which is the perfect spot to stop for a break.
Accessibility
From the A22 Bolzano North motorway exit, drive towards Kardaun; at the roundabout, turn off towards Eggental and continue to Gummer or Obergummer, where you will find the Schenken car park on the LS 132.
Description
This leisurely walk begins at the Schenken car park, where there is also an information board and a bus stop, and we cross the road (which has no zebra crossing). On the footpath with a compacted earth surface, we turn right and walk for about 100 metres along the main road to the Learn junction, where we turn left onto the tarmac path. We follow the local road and the trail markings, past a small farmyard and the Learn pond, before reaching a slightly steeper section with a 10% gradient. The route continues gently and in a straight line, going up and down with short, steeper sections (max. 10%), always following the markings. Ten minutes after the signpost, there is a section of slightly bumpy tarmac, followed by a gentle walk through the woods, passing clearings again and again, until we walk past a car park. After about 100 m, we reach a junction where we follow the markings to the left up the steep access path (13–15% gradient) to the Unteregger inn.
