Hike from Plan to Malga Lazins
This popular hike leads into a secluded valley in the heart of the Texel Group Nature Park, surrounded by the peaks of the upper Passeier Valley, which rise to over 3,000 metres. The forest track alternates between ascending and flat sections, allowing you to discover ancient pastures dotted with beautiful wooden huts amidst unspoilt nature.
Accessibility
From Bolzano, take the MeBo motorway to Merano and continue into the Passeier Valley to St. Leonhard, where the main road branches off towards the Timmelsjoch. In Moos in Passeier, the regional road branches off to the left towards Platt and Pfelders. In Pfelders, we park in the large car park at the entrance to the village (reserved spaces for people with disabilities).
Description
From the car park at the entrance to the village of Pfelders (1,622 m), we follow the small, traffic-free access road into the village. In the centre of the village, we turn left and follow a narrow tarmac village road uphill to the Hotel Alpenrose. Here we turn right into the Lazinser Valley (trail markers 6 and 8). Above the village, a residential road (15% gradient) takes us past the AVS hut “Bergheim Pfelders” into a sparse larch forest. Here the tarmac ends and a wide forest track with a firm gravel surface begins, alternating between ascending and level sections. On the opposite side of the valley lies the small settlement of Zeppichl. We cross the bridge over the roaring Faltschnalbach stream (1,740 m) and follow a steady climb to the Lazinser Hof (1,772 m), which offers a welcome place to stop for refreshments. Mostly following the Pfelderer Bach stream and the broad valley floor, we continue along the forest road (Meraner Höhenweg) further into the valley, enjoying the view of the Hohe Wilde (3,480 m) ahead of us and the Seelenkogel (3,472 m) to our right and above us. Finally, we reach the green pastures belonging to the Lazinser Alm. The slightly higher-altitude Laziner Alm (1,882 m) is reached via a steep ascent (20%). The return journey follows the same route back to Pfelders or, as a short circular route, from the Lazinser Hof on the other side of the valley via Zeppichl back to Pfelders (not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users).
