A collection of religious objects, documents, books, and testimonies from the Russian Orthodox community that arrived in Merano at the end of the 19th century. The church, inaugurated in 1897 and dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Saint of Miracles, was designed by Tobias Brenner, as were the elegant buildings surrounding it. The complex was built thanks to a substantial bequest from the wealthy Muscovite Nadezhda Ivanovna Borodina. The Merano "Russkij Dom" (Russian House), recently renovated, currently houses a retirement home. This building also houses the library, which contains over 1,300 books from the Russian community. The library has recently been enriched by private bequests.

Rating: High

The Nadezhda Borodina Collection of Russian Orthodox Religious Objects can be visited inside the Church of St. Nicholas, located on the first floor of a historic building currently housing a retirement home and accessible by elevator (130x110 cm). A long corridor also leads to the Russian community library, located on the ground floor of the retirement home. Space is limited here due to the arrangement of the furnishings. Near the elevator is a well-equipped, but narrow, restroom.
