Puez-Geisler / Puez - Odle Nature Park Visitor Center
The Puez-Odle Nature Park Visitor Centre aims to bring visitors closer to nature. The exhibition space ‘Touching the Mountains’ explains the geology of the Dolomites, whilst in ‘Wonders of Nature’ visitors can admire animal skins, bird eggs and feathers, footprint casts, tracks, antlers, various artefacts and medicinal herbs. The “Conquering the Mountains” room, on the other hand, is dedicated to mountaineering and one of its most famous figures, Reinhold Messner.
Rating: High
The Puez-Odle Nature Park Visitor Centre is located in the centre of Santa Maddalena in Val di Funes. A winding path leads from the car park at the entrance to the village; after crossing a small bridge and a few steps, it takes you to the visitor centre. We therefore recommend that visitors with disabilities park near the primary school in Santa Maddalena, as the route is shorter and has no steps. All exhibition areas of the visitor centre are accessible. The floors are connected by a spacious lift (140 x 110 cm), which can only be used in the presence of staff. Both the ladies’ and gents’ toilets are accessible and fitted with grab rails; the door is 75 cm wide. A nappy-changing facility is available for families with young children.

Notes: From the gravel visitor car park at the entrance to the village, a winding path leads past a small bridge and a flight of steps to the visitor centre.
